ATP6V1B1 (ATP6B1) antibody labeling of mouse kidney

ATP6V1B1 proteins are expressed by the intercalated cells in the cortical collecting duct, in addition to other distal tubular cells of the mouse kidney. Note that Aqp2 labels the principal cells in the cortical collecting duct of the mouse kidney.

ATP6V1B1 proteins are expressed by both alpha and beta intercalated cells of the collecting duct in the mouse kidney, while Pendrin is only expressed by the beta-intercalated cells.

Differentiating alpha from beta intercalated cells in the collecting duct on FFPE section

Anti-Pendrin antibody labels the luminal surface of beta-intercalated cells while anti-ATP6B1 antibody labels the luminal membrane of alpha-intercalated cells, as well as the luminal and basolateral membrane of beta-intercalated cells.

Anti-ATP6V1B1 (ATP6B1) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.

V-type proton ATPase V1 domain subunit B1, kidney isoform, is an enzyme that is encoded by the ATP6V1B1 gene in human. V-ATPase is composed of a cytosolic V1 domain and a transmembrane V0 domain. The V1 domain consists of three A and three B subunits, two G subunits plus the C, D, E, F, and H subunits. The V1 domain contains the ATP catalytic site.

Mutations in this gene cause distal renal tubular acidosis associated with sensorineural deafness (DRTA2) (OMIM #267300).

This antibody can be used with anti-Aqp2 or anti-Pendrin to differentiate the cell types in kidney collecting ducts.
