Anti-Connexin-29 (Cx29 or Gjc3) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent tissues.
Connexins are the structural proteins making the gap junction. Each gap junction is composed of two hemichannels, or connexons, which consist of a hexameric assembly of connexin proteins.
Connexin-29 is encoded by the Gjc3 gene in human. Connexin-29 is also known as gap junction protein gamma 3. Connexins have four transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops, amino- and carboxyl-terminal cytoplasmic domains, and a cytoplasmic turn motif.
Connexin-29 does not form gap junction in any cell type. Instead, it is highly expressed in myelin-forming glial cells of the CNS and PNS.
