Anti-Synaptopodin (SYNPO) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Synaptopodin is encoded by the SYNPO gene in human. Synaptopodin is an actin-associated protein that plays a role in actin-based cell shape and motility. Synaptopodin proteins are found in postsynaptic densities and dendritic spines of the neurons and in glomerular podocytes of the kidney.
Synaptopodin has been shown to interact with CD2AP and Actinin alpha-4 in the slit diaphragm made by the glomerular podocytes. Mutations in SYNPO gene have been associated with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis in man.
