Anti-Plectin (PLEC) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Plectin is a cytoskeletal protein that is encoded by the PLEC gene in human. Plectin links the cytoskeleton to cell junctions found in the plasma membrane that structurally connect different cells. By holding these different networks together, plectin plays an important role in maintaining the mechanical integrity and viscoelastic properties of tissues.
Mutations in the PLEC gene have been associated with epidermolysis bullosa simplex with muscular dystrophy.
