Anti-AKT (AKT1 or RAC or PKB) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from human and rodent tissues.
RAC (Rho family)-alpha serine/threonine-protein kinase is an enzyme that is encoded by the AKT1 gene in human. This enzyme belongs to the AKT subfamily of serine/threonine kinases that contain SH2 (Src homology 2-like) protein domains. It is commonly referred to as PKB, or by both names as “Akt/PKB”. AKT1 was originally identified as the oncogene in the transforming retrovirus. AKT1 is catalytically inactive in serum-starved primary and immortalized fibroblasts. AKT1 and the related AKT2 are activated by platelet-derived growth factor.
Mutations in this gene are associated with multiple types of cancer and excessive tissue growth including Proteus syndrome and Cowden syndrome 6, and breast, colorectal, and ovarian cancers.
