Cre recombinase is a tyrosine recombinase that catalyzes recombination between two loxP sites. The Cre mRNA is capped using m7G(5′)ppp(5′)A analog and polyadenylated to mimic a fully processed mature mRNA. The Cre mRNA can be directly injected into mouse or rat embryos to create transgenic animals in cell or tissue specific manners.
