Anti-Desmoplakin (DSP) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Desmoplakin is encoded by the DSP gene in human. Desmoplakin is a key linker protein between intermediate filament and the desmosome in cardiac muscle and epidermal cells. In cardiac muscle, Desmoplakin is localized to the intercalated discs which mechanically couple cardiac cells to function in a coordinated syncytial structure.
Desmoplakin contains globular amino- and carboxy-termini, connected by a central, alpha-helical coiled-coil rod domain. The DSP gene encodes two desmoplakin isoforms (I and II) due to alternative splicing, with desmoplakin II missing approximately two-thirds of the rod domain. This antibody is raised against the amino-terminus of Desmoplakin and will recognize both isoforms.
