Anti-NCAM (CD56) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), also known as CD56, is encoded by the NCAM gene in human. NCAM consists in an extracellular domain, a transmembrane domain and an intracellular domain. The extracellular domain contains five Ig-like motifs and two Fibronectin type-III motifs.
NCAM is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is involved in development of the nervous system, and for cells involved in the expansion of T cells and dendritic cells which play an important role in immune surveillance.
