Anti-Protocadherin-16 (PCDH16 or DCHS1) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Protocadherin-16 (PCDH16), also known as Protein dachsous homologue 1, is a protein that is encoded by the DCHS1 gene in human. This gene is an orthologue of the Drosophila dachsous gene.
Like classic cadherins, protocadherin proteins contain an amino-terminal extracellular domain or ectodomain or EC domain that is followed by a transmembrane domain and a carboxyl-terminal intracellular domain. Compared to classic cadherins, the ectodomains in protocadherins are much larger.
Protocadherin-16 is thought to play a role in wound healing. Mutations in protocadherin-16 cause mitral valve prolapse in the heart.
