Anti-MCAM (CD146 or MUC18) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Melanoma cell adhesion molecule (MCAM), also known as CD146 or MUC18, is encoded by the MCAM gene in human. MCAM consists in an extracellular domain, a transmembrane domain and an intracellular domain. The extracellular domain contains five Ig-like motifs.
MCAM functions as a receptor for laminin alpha 4, a matrix molecule that is broadly expressed within the vascular wall. MCAM is highly expressed by cells that are components of the blood vessel wall, including vascular endothelial cells, smooth muscle cells and pericytes.
