Anti-Plakophilin-2 (PKP2) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Plakophilin-2 is encoded by the PKP2 gene in human. Plakophilin-2 belongs to the protein family of Plakophilin. Plakophilin proteins contain nine armadillo repeats, localize to the desmosomes, and participate in linking cadherins to intermediate filaments in the cytoskeleton.
Plakophilin-2 is expressed in the epithelium of the skin and the cardiac muscle of the heart. In the cardiac muscle, Plakophilin-2 is found in the desmosomes located in the intercalated discs. Mutations in PKP2 cause arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy.
