Anti-Claudin-18.a1 ECL (CLDN18.a1-ECL) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Claudin-18 is a protein that is encoded by the CLDN18 gene in human. Claudin-18 belongs to the Claudin protein superfamily.
Claudins are tetraspan proteins making the tight junction. Claudins have four transmembrane domains, two extracellular loops (ECLs: ECL1 and ECL2), amino- and carboxyl-terminal cytoplasmic domains, and a short cytoplasmic motif.
Claudin-18 has two splicing isoforms: 18.a1 and 18.a2. The difference is within the ECL1 domain. CLDN18.a1 is expressed in the lungs and CLDN18.a2 is expressed in the stomach.
This antibody specifically recognizes Claudin-18.a1 isoform. It shows no affinity to Claudin-18.a2 isoform.
