Anti-Mucin-1 (MUC1 or CD227) antibody is validated on mouse tissue and recommended for immunofluorescence labeling, IHC, or western blot of materials from rodent and human tissues.
Mucins are O-glycosylated proteins that play an essential role in forming protective mucous barriers on epithelial surfaces. Mucin short variant S1, or Mucin-1, also known as epithelial membrane antigen (EMA) or CD227, is a mucin protein encoded by the MUC1 gene in human. Mucin-1 is a membrane-bound protein of the mucin family. Mucin-1 is expressed on the apical surface of epithelial cells that line the mucosal layer of many epithelial tissues such as the lungs, the stomach and the pancreas. Mucin-1 is proteolytically cleaved into alpha and beta subunits that form a heterodimeric complex. The N-terminal alpha subunit functions in cell-adhesion and the C-terminal beta subunit is involved in cell signaling.
